New women’s group holds first meeting
The newly-formed Sanibel-Captiva Catholic Women held its first meeting on Nov. 21 at the Sanibel Arms West. Guest speaker Carlton A. Cleveland talked about the Immokalee Fair Housing. His message was the significance of quality housing for farmworker’s families and how when children are in safe homes they are happier, healthier and perform better in school. Following the presentation, the group raised $4,600 to donate to the Immokalee Fair Housing. The next meeting will be held on Dec. 5 at the Sanibel Arms West, at 827 E. Gulf Drive, Sanibel.
