Sanibel library features Selfie Station, cooking kits and more
The Sanibel Public Library offers a variety of programs and activities for adults and youth.
Bring out-of-town guests by the library for a selfie that they can email back home. The Selfie Station is in the main lobby. Take a photo posing with holiday props or use one of the station’s fun frames
Need help organizing and planning that holiday dinner? The library has a cornucopia of materials to help. For those looking for culinary inspiration, try a cookbook like “The Best of America’s Test kitchen 2020,” or the classic – yet updated in 2019 – “Joy of Cooking.” There also are magazines with holiday recipes, including “Martha Stewart Living” and “Rachel Ray Every Day.”
In addition, the Sanibel Public Library loans out cooking kits, which check out like library books or DVDs. The kits are circulated in bags with a coordinating cookbook and instructions. Some of the kits are especially handy at this time of year, like the football-shaped dip server, cookie kit or soup pot.
Also, the following weekly programs are available for youth:
– Family Storytime: Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. with Youth Service Librarian Deanna Evans. For preschoolers and their caregivers, the program helps develop pre-reading skills through songs and stories. No program scheduled for Dec. 4-5.
– After-School Crew: Thursdays at 3 p.m. with Youth Service Librarian Deanna Evans. Kindergarten through fifth graders will get to meet some new books and enjoy puzzles, games, crafts and snacks. No program scheduled for Dec. 5.
There is no registration required nor additional cost to participate.
