Lions Club to sell Christmas trees in annual fundraiser
The day after Thanksgiving kicks off a holiday tradition for the Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club that has been going on for more than 40 years – the club’s annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser.
The area next to the Island Cinema, located in the Bailey’s Shopping Center, will turn into a wonderland of over 200 premium Frasier firs freshly cut and shipped from Michigan.
Ranging in height from 5 feet to 10 feet, the trees will be available for purchase Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be on sale through Dec. 22, or until the supply runs out.
“We are fortunate to have a wonderful source of full, healthy and long lasting premium trees. Last year our trees arrived with snow still on them,” Rick Wagner, organizer of the sale, said. “Our customers return year after year due to the quality of our trees.”
The Christmas tree sale has grown to become one of the club’s largest fund-raising events.
“The entire club pitches in, from set up to selling, which ensures 100 percent of our earnings goes directly to the charitable work of the Lions Club,” President Bill Sartoris said.
The club expressed its thanks to Richard Johnson and Bailey’s for providing space for the fundraiser and their continued support, along with the SCCF Hammerheads for assisting with the site setup.
Volunteers for the sale are welcome. To volunteer, contact Wagner at 863-272-7713.
