LCSO warns of scam involving missed jury duty
On Nov. 19, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that it has received multiple complaints from citizens who have received a call from someone claiming to be a LCSO employee.
The caller states that the person has missed jury duty and tells them they need to pay a fine for missing jury duty. The LCSO will not call and solicit money over the phone. This is a common scam that has been used over the years.
Anyone who has paid the individuals should call the LCSO at 239-477-1000 to report it.
If anyone ever questions the legitimacy of a caller who is stating that they are an employee with the LCSO, citizens can call the main line at 239-477-1000 to verify the call.
