CCP to host ‘Welcome Back’ sunset cruise
The Captiva Community Panel is taking reservations for its annual season kick-off cruise.
The 2019?”Welcome Back to Captiva” Sunset Cruise will take place on Dec. 10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. aboard the Lady Chadwick from Captiva Cruises, which will depart from McCarthy’s Marina.
“It’s an opportunity for neighbors and friends to get together,” Panel Member Mike Boris said.
“It’ll be a delightful sunset cruise,” he added.
The evening will entail a brief introduction to the CCP and what it does.
“It’s especially designed for people who aren’t familiar with the panel,” Boris said.
Attendees will hear about the organization’s ongoing initiatives and activities.
“On this little island there’s a lot of people who come and go and might not be aware of what’s happening and this is a way to educate them,” he said.
The event also serves as a fundraiser to support the panel’s work.
Tickets are a $100 tax-deductible donation per person.
“We hope that people will give more than that and they usually do,” Boris said.
The cruise will be compliments of Captiva Cruises, along with the cocktails and refreshments. The Keylime Bistro, RC Otter’s Island Eats and Cantina Captiva will provide the hors d’oeuvres.
“Between Captiva Cruises and Sandy Stilwell’s restaurants, they have been fantastic supporters and they continue to be so for the panel and we appreciate it,” he said.
The community is encouraged to reserve a seat.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about your community panel and what we’re doing,” Boris said. “Typically we do have dolphin encounters as well, so it’ll be fun and relaxing for everybody.”

“The panel is supported solely by the volunteer contributions from the community, so we would appreciate your support in any way,” he said.
