Students help pack meals for those in need
The Sanibel School Interact Club lent its efforts to “speed” packing nutritious meals for local food pantries on Nov. 9 at The Community House on Sanibel. The event was the second partnership between the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club and Sanibel Congressional United Church of Christ, which shared the cost of the 25,000 meals prepared. Sponsored by the Rotary Club, the Interact Club challenges middle-school students to look around their community, identify places of need, and develop and implement ways to help. Then, the students are challenged to identify and help those struggling with the same or similar issues somewhere in the world. Teacher Edna Dykhuizen oversees the student organization.
