Sanibel FlyFishers to host meeting
The Sanibel FlyFishers will hold its monthly meeting on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel, with an informal meet-and-greet starting at 5:30 p.m.
The featured speaker will be Capt. Codty Pierce, a lifelong resident of Southwest Florida who been fishing the mangroves and backwater of the area for over 20 years. A fly tier and guide, he has made a unique reputation targeting sheepshead with a fly. Pierce has been called “The Del Brown of Sheepshead” by Fly Fisherman magazine. He will introduce attendees to fly fishing for sheepshead and talk about his experiences fishing in Southwest Florida.
Visitors are welcome.
For a suggested $5 donation, pizza and drinks will be available during the meet-and-greet.

– Dec: 14: Annual Holiday Party at 6 p.m. at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille on Sanibel; member RSVP required
– Dec. 19: Monthly club luncheon at 1 p.m. at The Nauti Parrot Dock Bar on Fort Myers Beach
– Feb. 25: Second annual showing of the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) film series at The Community House on Sanibel; short films, silent auction and raffles to benefit Captains for Clean Water and other local conservation causes
