Historical village hosting toy exhibit for holiday season
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village will display an exhibit of toys now through the holiday season. All the village’s buildings will display a variety of vintage and antique toys that are part of the museum’s collection.
“Most of our museum toy collection will be on display in each of our vintage buildings,” Executive Director Emilie Alfino said. “From handmade to store-bought, we have what children of the 1900s wished for: dolls and dollhouses, trains, boats, cars, books, games, and more.”
She added that toys appeal to people of all ages. Not only are they poignant reminders of youth, they convey fascinating glimpses into the values, styles and technology of earlier areas.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Admission is $10 for ages 18 and older; children and members are free.
Free guided tours are held at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., based on docent availability.
