F.I.S.H. to host ‘Medicare One-on-One Counseling Sessions’
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, along with the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida and SHINE – Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders – will offer “Medicare One-on-One Counseling Sessions” on Nov. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Heron Hall at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, 2050 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
The annual Medicare open enrollment period is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. The event will give participants the opportunity to meet with a SHINE counselor to review coverage, learn about Medicare changes for 2020, and how to save on Part D costs. No appointment is necessary.
“The Medicare open enrollment period is a critical time for individuals who want or need to change their Medicare plans. This one-on-one counseling session gives participants the opportunity to choose or modify a plan that is specific to their needs,” F.I.S.H. Program Director Kathy Y. Monroe said. “We are delighted to bring this offering to our community and encourage everyone who is enrolled in Medicare to attend.”
Participants should bring a list of prescription medications, including dosage, and their Medicare card. SHINE counselors provide free, unbiased and confidential counseling to Medicare beneficiaries, their caregivers and those soon to be eligible for Medicare.
