John N Kramer Jr
From small town Wisconsin to a citizen of the world, John N Kramer Jr. lived life to the fullest. On Sunday, August 18, 2019, John passed away with his wife Linda (nee Caldwell) by his side in Fort Myers Florida.
A resident of Sanibel Florida from 2001, John served on the boards of BIG ARTS and COTI. He was an active participant in Current Events discussion groups and on the Advisory Board of the BIG ARTS Theater program. He was a member of The Captiva Island Yacht Club and a social member of the Sanctuary Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and college football, a fervent Badger fan. John and Linda loved traveling especially to Paris and all over western Europe. They enjoyed their summer home in Chautauqua NY.
Born March 11, 1943 in Fennimore Wisconsin to John N. Kramer and Katherine Hinn Kramer, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in 1965 and his JD from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1968. John joined the New York law firm Shearman & Sterling as an associate in 1968 and was promoted to partner in 1977. His practice included cross-border finance, capital markets and energy matters. He was an associate in the London office from 1973-76, the resident Managing Partner of the Abu Dhabi office from 1978-81, the London office from 1981-85, and the Hong Kong office from 1987-90. He retired from the firm in 2000.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; sister JoEllen DeOreo of Shaker Heights, OH; and brother Mark Kramer and his wife Louise Walton, Gig Harbor, WA. One of John’s greatest joys was spending vacations and holidays with his nephews David DeOreo and his wife Courtney; Daniel DeOreo and his wife Sara; Matt DeOreo and his wife Susannah; niece Kathleen Kramer; great nieces Emilie and Phoebe DeOreo, and great nephews Wes, Michael and Matthew DeOreo.
