“Native” is the theme of a new show that opened on Nov. 4 at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Featuring art in diverse media created by members of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and Sanibel Captiva Art League, the exhibit spotlights the flora, fauna, land and sea particular to the local environment. See what “native” means to local artists as they depict various facets of the surrounding ecosystem and the culture the islands strive to protect. Be inspired by depictions of the unique habitat and why it is worth preserving. Visitors will view works focused on diverse native subjects, undertaken in varying styles. The artists will donate a portion of all sales to the SCCF. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 9. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
