F.I.S.H. to host annual Open House for community
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva will host its annual Open House for the public on Nov. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the F.I.S.H. Walk-In Center, at 2430 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
Sponsored by Inky and Jack Meng, it will showcase the work of F.I.S.H., whose mission is to lend a helping hand to those who live, work or visit the islands, while enriching the lives of those on Sanibel and Captiva through food programs, island-based workshops, social services and helping hands.
“We want the community to discover how F.I.S.H. positively impacts our community and assists our neighbors. F.I.S.H. board members will be available for discussion and tours, and you will also have an opportunity to meet F.I.S.H. staff and volunteers, the real heroes of our organization,” President Maggi Feiner said. “Feel free to invite friends and neighbors to learn how we all are making a difference in our community.”
Light hors d’oeuvres with wine pairings will be available, provided by the Sanibel Catering Company by Bailey’s.
Handicap-only parking is offered on site, with additional parking at Bailey’s General Store.
“We are so proud of the programs and services we are able to offer to our residents, workforce and visitors and would like to share information about F.I.S.H. with the community,” Executive Director Alicia Tighe said. “Often, when a neighbor requests assistance in one area of life, it is symptomatic of larger issues in the household. As a wrap-around service provider, when individuals or families come to us for the first time, they speak with a staff member to determine their specific needs and to learn about other programs that can put them on a pathway to self-sustainability.”
