Annual Calusa Blueway Fishing Tournament set
The Calusa Blueway Kayak Fishing Tournament will return to Matlacha and proceeds will benefit the Candlelighters of Southwest Florida, a charity supporting children with blood disorders.
Organized by the Gulf Coast Kayak and hosted by The Olde Fish House Marina on Matlacha, the tourney is a family fun event, featuring door prizes, raffles, food, live music and silent auctions on Nov. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. The “Kayak Fishing with Jim Sammons” show will filmed throughout it.
Local sponsors have donated the cash prizes this year.
In addition, Gulf Coast Kayak will give away a kayak.
All fishing will be catch, photo and release. Anglers must fish from paddlecraft on Lee County waterways. The tournament will begin at safe light. Weigh-ins will be from noon to 3 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Old Fish House Marina.
PointYbel Brewing Company will host the captain’s meeting and registration on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. All anglers must be present. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $65 per angler.
