The Sanibel School, at 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, presents the following:

King, queen for 2019 Bailey Fest

Fifth-graders Brock Catlin and Madison Byrne have been named the king and queen for the Annual Bailey’s Fest as the winners of the 2019 Bailey’s Festival Essay Contest.

They will take part in the parade and festivities on Oct. 27.

In addition, the school’s Steel Drum Band and Elementary Choir will perform at about 3 p.m. at Bailey’s General Store as part of the celebration.

Fall Bookfair to benefit school

The school has partnered with Barnes and Noble in Fort Myers to hold a bookfair on Nov. 16.

A percentage of purchases made at the store that day using The Sanibel School code will go toward buying new books for the media center.

Principal Chuck Vilardi and some teachers will be present during the day to read stories aloud.

Any purchases made at the store will count toward the total, including books, music, stationary, toys, games and even coffee and treats from the cafe.

Interact Club collecting donations

The Interact Club is collecting items for the Lifeline Family Center in Cape Coral until Oct. 25.

It needs baby items, like formula, diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo and wash towels.

It will collect from elementary classrooms or items can be dropped off in Mrs. Dykhuizen’s room.
