The Community House

The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, presents the following:

Hands-on Cooking

Resident Chef Jarred Harris will host a Hands-on Cooking class on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme is “Desserts.” Cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.

Community Social

A Community Social will take place on Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m., with the theme of “Octoberfest Feast.” The menu will feature: German beer cheese soup, brezen (soft pretzels) with assorted mustards, German potato salad, and kartoffel kloesse (potato dumplings) with brown butter sauce for starters; and sauerbraten (German style beef pot roast) with spaetzle, wrstl (pork sausages) with sauerkraut, chicken schnitzel with lemon thyme sauce, potato pancakes, pickled purple cabbage and steamed vegetables for the mains. For a $5 donation, the desserts will include an ice cream sundae bar and apple strudel. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door, if seats are available.

Culinary Social Demo

Resident Chef Jarred Harris will host a Culinary Social Demo on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. The theme is “Breads 101.” Cost is $25 for members or $30 for non-members.

Fall Family Festival, Candy Carnival

The Fall Family Festival and Candy Carnival will take place on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Open to all, admission is a bag or two of candy per family. Sponsorships and candy donations are currently being accepted.

The Community House is taking soup and stew orders for pick up in November and December.
