Councilman appointed to the Florida League of Cities committee
On Sept. 16, Sanibel City Councilmember Richard Johnson was appointed by Florida League of Cities President Isaac Salver to the Transportation and Intergovernmental Relations Legislative Committee.
It addresses municipal concerns relating to transportation and highway safety, plus aviation, affordable housing/homelessness, billboards, building codes, charter schools, rights-of-way and veterans affairs.
In the letter of appointment, Salver noted “that Councilman Johnson would work with other committee members to discuss the many issues facing cities that will come before the Legislature during the 2020 session and decide upon a policy direction for the FLC legislative efforts.”
Johnson was first elected to the city council in March.
He currently serves as the council’s liaison to the Historical Preservation Committee, Historical Museum and Village, Recreation Financial Assistance Committee and Employee Dependent Scholarship Committee. Johnson also serves as liaison to Community Housing and Resources, CHR’s Coast & Island Community Grant Trust and on Lee County Causeway matters.
