Annual Author Series to showcase Green, Alexander and Baldacci

By Staff | Oct 4, 2019

The Sanibel Public Library recently announced its 2019-2020 Author Series lineup.

For over a decade, the library has partnered with the Sanibel Public Library Foundation to connect local readers with award-winning authors by bringing in high-caliber writers for an intimate evening, followed by a champagne reception. Past guests included Joyce Carol Oates, Sue Monk Kidd, Jodi Picoult, Lee Child, Dennis Lehane, Amor Towles, Erik Larson, and Margaret Atwood.

Jane Green kicks off this season’s Author Series in January. She is the author of 20 novels, including 17 New York Times bestsellers. She has more than 10 million books in print, is published in over 25 languages and has several books in development for film. Three of her books were made into Lifetime TV movies airing in 2019: “Tempting Fate,” “To Have and to Hold” and “Family Pictures.” Green has had her own show on BBC Radio London and is a current storyteller for “The Moth Radio Hour.” She is a regular contributor on TV shows, including “Good Morning America,” “The Martha Stewart Show” and “The Today Show.” Green has been featured in People, Newsweek, USA Today, Glamour, The Sunday Times and Cosmopolitan.

Green will speak on Jan. 14. Ticket requests will open on Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. at www.sanlib.org.

The next speaker in the Author Series is Tasha Alexander. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling Lady Emily mystery series – “Tears of Pearl,” “Dangerous to Know” and “A Crimson Warning.” In Alexander’s 2019 “Uneasy Lies the Crown,” Lady Emily and her husband, Colin, must stop a serial killer whose sights may be set on King Edward VII. Her “In the Shadow of Vesuvius” is due out in January. In the 14th installment in the Victorian series, Lady Emily uncovers a mystery in the ancient city of Pompeii.

David Baldacci published his first novel, “Absolute Power,” in 1996. The feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, Baldacci has published 38 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. His novels are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 130 million worldwide sales. Baldacci has also published seven novels for younger readers. His next thriller, “Minute to Midnight,” is due to hit bookshelves at the end of November.

Baldacci will speak on March 10. Ticket requests will open on Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. at www.sanlib.org.

Major funding for the series is provided by the foundation and its donors.

The library will continue to utilize a “lottery system” ticketing procedure to meet high demand and ensure as many as possible have the opportunity to attend an Author Series event. Requests for tickets may be made at the website beginning on the listed dates. Names of those requesting tickets will be selected at random, and then be notified by email. Requests made before or after that time will not be honored. Tickets are distributed at no charge to library cardholders; one card per person, two tickets per card. Those unable to access the online form or who need assistance using the online form, the library will have personnel and a computer set aside for public use.
