Tower Gallery prepares for annual Attic Sale
The 13th annual Attic Sale will return on Oct. 18-19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tower Gallery.
The Sanibel gallery will provide art enthusiasts and supporters a rare opportunity to browse through and purchase work from some of the co-op’s award-winning artists at discounted prices. The event serves as a way for the gallery to give back to the locals who continue to support it and new friends.
There will be artwork for sale inside the gallery porch and under tents on the grounds, including sculpture, paintings, prints, raku, photography, hand-painted bowls, jewelry and more.
It is also a chance to meet the gallery’s artists, many of whom will do demonstrations on the deck or help customers. Artists Katie Gardenia and Kelly Morrison are back this year and will be present.
“The artwork at Tower is always superior and ever changing,” Morrison said, noting that much of the work that ends up in the sale comes from rotating what is on display at the gallery throughout the year.
“There could be that one piece that’s been in the gallery that someone has had their eye on and it might just happen to end up in the Attic Sale,” artist JoAnne Bedient said. “People enjoy prowling through bins and the framed pieces that aren’t hanging on the wall. It’s like going through your grandma’s attic. And, as artists, we love looking at other artists’ work and finding something we like – so people need to get there early.”
The sale is a way for the artists to get involved with the gallery and the community.
“We’re a cooperative and we love this gallery,” Morrison said.
On Oct. 19, the sale will continue indoors until the gallery closes at 6 p.m.
