Rotary Club wraps up grant cycle for year
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Trust Fund board trustees recently closed the club’s grant distribution cycle, which ran from July through September, with a total distribution of $91,610. It includes designated funds for distribution for specific projects during this time-period such as the Rotary Club Scholarship Awards, CART/Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust and Bahama Disaster Relief.
With much discussion and deliberation, Trust Board Trustees John Danner, Babara Ellis, Dorrie Hipschman, Clark Rambo, Chris DeCosta, Chairman John Henshaw, Scott Mowry and Ex officio Eldon Bohrofen conducted a vetting process. Grant recipients will be announced at a later date.
The exception is the recent funds collected for Hurricane Dorian Disaster Relief. The club collected $10,000 for hurricane relief in the Bahamas, with separate $5,000 donations to be sent to Rotary District 6990/Grand Bahamas and Rotary District 7020/Nassau and Abaco. The funds will be applied for immediate and long-term recovery of the islands.
A new grant cycle will start in February.
Funds available in the trust fund account are made possible by club fundraising activities held throughout the year and the generosity of members and friends of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club.
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club is still collecting donations for storm relief. They can be sent c/o John Henshaw, John Henshaw and Associates Inc., 1101 Periwinkle Way, Suite 101, Sanibel, FL 33957 with the memo line “Bahama Disaster Relief.”
