Fyzical offering complimentary fall-risk screenings
Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers is offering complimentary fall-risk screenings for one month at all 13 Southwest Florida locations as part of its “Fight the Fall” campaign.
The free screenings began on Sept. 23 – the first day of fall and Falls Prevention Awareness Day, which raises awareness of an issue impacting many older Americans. At the screenings, Fyzical’s team of physical therapists will help patients identify compromises in balance, flexibility and strength that could make them more susceptible to falls, and then outline steps to prevent future falls.
“Falling is very common among older adults, but most falls are preventable,” Dr. Chris Mulvey, president for company-owned operations at Fyzical. “Our physical therapists offer exercises to improve a patient’s strength and flexibility, which can counteract many of their balance issues.”
Falls Prevention Awareness Day is coordinated by the National Council on Aging as part of its Falls Free Initiative, which includes states and national organizations, professional associations and federal agencies working to bring education, awareness and evidence-based solutions to local communities.
Appointments are required for the screenings, which are available through Oct. 22.
