Part of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge is hosting “Project Refuge: A Couture Fashion Show Using Trash” on March 10 at The Sanctuary Clubhouse on Sanibel. The Project Refuge Committee is seeking inspired, resourceful and style-savvy individuals to enter wearable fashion created from materials that might otherwise have ended up in a landfill or recycling facility. Juried designs will be showcased at the “Twist Tie Optional” luncheon and runway show. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three designs in the amounts of $500, $350 and $250, with the People’s Choice winner receiving $100. The application deadline is Oct. 1.
