Throughout the month of September, Tarpon Bay Explorers will offer 25 percent discounts on all rentals and tours for residents of Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties.

Paddle a kayak through the mangrove tunnels of Commodore Creek; ride a bike through the heart of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Wildlife Drive or look for dolphins and manatees with a bird’s eye view on a standup paddleboard. Go pontoon fishing in the refuge’s back-bay waters.

Tarpon Bay Explorers also has new Hobie fishing kayak rentals for the avid angler.

“We hope residents come out this year and take advantage of the discounts,” Assistant Manager Adam Sauerland said. “Especially, since we haven’t experienced poor water quality like we did last year. The bay has been gorgeous.”

For a small launch fee, locals can also launch their own watercraft from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and bike rentals are first come, first served.

Reservations are recommended for Hobie fishing kayaks and pontoons.

Reservations are also recommended for all tours.

Florida identification will be required to verify residency.
