For the 2018-2019 school year, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge provided $11,000 in Teacher Conservation Grants for schools in Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties. Cypress Lake Middle School science teacher Jill Whitewood offered thanks to the DDWS for the funding, which has provided the Fort Myers school with resources it would not have had otherwise. It received the grant for its “Inform, Educate & Inspire” project. To support conservation education at the refuge, visit dingdarlingsociety.org/donation.
