Annual Grouper Slam rescheduled due to storm

By Staff | Jul 30, 2019

The 5th Annual Grouper Slam, which was planned for July 13 at the Royal Shell Port Sanibel Marina in Fort Myers, has been rescheduled to Sept. 14 as a result of weather conditions at the time.

Proceeds from the event’s auction and drawing benefit LARC.

LARC Development Director Angela Katz reported that the weather was not conducive for offshore fishing that weekend due to Hurricane Barry, so organizers decided to postpone the tournament.

She added that the online auction did take place and it was a success.

However, the chance drawing also was rescheduled to Sept. 14.

The mission of LARC, or the Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens, is to empower and support individuals with disabilities and their families. The non-profit provides programs and services for about 300 locals through vocational training, community residential services, inclusion services and more.
