Coast Guard: Crew recovers missing diver

At about 3 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard reported that its 45-foot Response Boat crew recovered the missing diver.



The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing diver 18 miles west of Sanibel.

At 10:50 a.m. today, Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg Command Center watchstanders received a report from an 18-foot recreational vessel, stating a 52-year-old male diver never resurfaced.

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules and MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew were dispatched along with a 45-foot Response Boat Medium crew from Station Fort Myers Beach.

Also searching are Lee County Sheriff’s Office marine unit, Cape Coral Fire Rescue and Estero marine dive team.
