Zonta seeking early grant applications local non-profits
The Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida, the non-profit arm of the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, is seeking applications from non-profits in Lee County and Southwest Florida for a 2020 grant.
The grant cycle begins now, with distribution of grants in January.
The preliminary applications will be screened and move forward based on certain criteria.
The mission of Zonta International is to empower women and girls through service, advocacy and funding. Zonta focuses on education, economic self-sufficiency, safety and health for women and girls. Successful applications will be based in one or more of these aspects of empowerment; they will also be specific with measurable outcomes.
“We encourage former grant recipients to develop a program that expands on prior results or that introduces new initiatives, and we will also welcome collaborative projects involving two or more non-profits,” committee co-chair Diane Chesley said.
Applicants are asked to note the following:
– Since Zonta is non-sectarian, applications from organizations with a faith-based or religious connection are not eligible.
– Submitting a preliminary grant application does not ensure that the organization will be invited to submit a more detailed application, and submitting a final application does not ensure that the organization will automatically receive funding in the 2020 grant cycle.
– Applicants who submit a final grant application will be expected to work collaboratively as needed with a liaison from Zonta.
Preliminary applications are due by July 26.
For preliminary applications that meet the identified criteria, a final detailed application will be distributed at the beginning of October, with a submission deadline of Oct. 25.
