Two student enrollment offices closing Thursday

By Staff | May 29, 2019

The Lee County School District Student Enrollment offices located in Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres will permanently close at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 30.

“Having staff in one location increases efficiencies and improves customer service as additional enrollment specialists will be available to register and enroll students. Reduction in long lines, lengthy wait times and operational expenses for the district are anticipated because of these closures,” said Soretta Ralph, the executive director of Student Enrollment

The enrollment activity at the Fort Myers office, 2855 Colonial Blvd., exceeds the Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres offices combined, she explained. The Fort Myers Technical College was in great need of space to allow for more students to attend the school and the Lehigh Acres office was under a lease, which were among the reasons the district decided to close those offices permanently.

“We are going to open satellite offices,” Ralph said, during such times as two weeks prior to school starting, during kindergarten pre-registration and open enrollment.

Those satellite offices will be located in Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres and Bonita Springs.

“We continue to see great increases with applications online,” Ralph said, adding that sometimes people prefer to have that face to talk to, while others enjoy sitting at home while enrolling their child. “We are always available.”

She said they receive thousands of emails from parents each year who have questions about enrollment. Those questions can be sent to studentenrollment@ leeschools.net.

“We try to work with everyone,” Ralph said.

During the month of March, the district enrolled close to 600 students.

“We continue to get 400 to 500 students enrolling each month. It’s a constant process. We are withdrawing some students that go elsewhere. There is a lot of mobility in the county,” she said.

Those who have questions about school enrollment can email Ralph at sorettaer@leeschools.net, or call 239-337-8307.

“We try to accommodate everyone,” Ralph said.
