Sanibel Sea School celebrates volunteers
The Sanibel Sea School recently hosted a volunteer appreciation outing to celebrate the end of a busy and successful season.
Volunteers enjoyed a boat ride to Fort Myers Beach aboard the Ripple Effect and ate a delicious lunch while enjoying waterfront views at The Dixie Fish Co.
“Our volunteers are so generous to share their time and talent with us,” Development Director Chrissy Basturk said. “We are able to depend on them when we need extra hands, and we feel very lucky to have such a great team supporting us.”
Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks, from updating email lists to decorating the retail shop windows to planning fundraising events, such as the annual Octifest on the Beach.
“I think now, more than ever, it is important to teach children and adults how important it is to protect our environment,” volunteer Gina Cunningham said. “I’m happy to help the Sea School’s mission any way I can.”
The Sanibel Sea School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the ocean’s future, one person at a time. For more information, visit sanibelseaschool.org or call 239-472-8585.
