Program provides youth with free meals during summer
The School District of Lee County’s Food and Nutrition Department is sponsoring the USDA Summer Food Service Program from June 3 through July 26.
Participating sites will provide nutritionally balanced meals to all children under 18 during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.
Meals are free, and there are no income or registration requirements.
For the islands, the Sanibel Recreation Center, at 2880 Sanibel-Captiva Road, will offer breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday; no meals will be served on July 4.
For more information, call Dave Defonzo at 239-472-0345.
