2019 Cape Coral Burrowing Owl Survey June 1

By Staff | May 7, 2019

The 2019 Cape Coral Burrowing Owl Survey will be held Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to noon, and organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the project.

This year’s survey is the second year of a five-year project to count and monitor the burrowing owl population in Cape Coral.

Volunteers must attend one of the mandatory training sessions (even those individuals who participated in last year’s survey) and will receive maps of their survey area, data sheets and detailed instructions for conducting the survey.

The mandatory training sessions are Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m., and Sat-urday, May 11, at 10 a.m.

Participants must be able to bring binoculars, pens and highlighters; use a cell phone with GPS capabilities; and return data sheets to Rotary Park in Cape Coral when they complete their part of the survey.

To register as a volunteer, please email your name, training date preference, email address and phone number to cheryl-owls124@ gmail.com.
