Captiva Memorial Library presents activities for May

By Staff | Apr 29, 2019

The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, is offering the following free programs for adults and youth during the month of May:

– Coloring for Grown-ups

(daily during operating hours)

Researchers and art therapists alike have touted the calming effects of coloring, and adults have found this childhood activity a refreshing way to release their creativity, relieve stress and meet other participants. Coloring pages designed especially for adults, as well as colored pencils, provided.

– Checkers

(daily during operating hours)

Play classic checkers, “the game of games,” or try other versions such as Fox and Geese, Give Away, Shifting Pyramids, Corner Checkers or Goban. Instructions included. Alternatively, reverse the field and play Tic Tac Toe or Super Tic Tac Toe.

– May 28 to June 1: Constellation cubes

(daily during operating hours)

Cut and fold constellation cubes to use as a decoration for your desk or as small luminaries. All supplies, excluding LED candle, are provided while they last.

– May 1: Merry Month of May

(daily during operating hours)

Celebrate May Day with books and planting flower seeds. Use recycled materials to help get your garden started.

– May 28 to June 1: Mix and Match Martian cubes

(daily during operating hours)

Color and cut out the martian cubes to create silly mix-and-match aliens. All materials provided while supplies last.

The library branch will be closed on May 27 in recognition of Memorial Day.
