The American Business Women’s Association named supporters of its 40th Anniversary Gala.

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank will serve as the leadership sponsor, while The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company will judge the Far Out & Groovy Award. In addition, Bailey’s General Store will serve as the pina colada sponsor and John Grey Painting is providing a sponsorship for the flower power.

“Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has a natural alliance with the local ABWA chapter,” President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Albert said. “Both organizations support the progress of women in business and we’re proud to be part of their continuing education scholarship program.”

“The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company is uniquely qualified to provide judges for this competitive Award,” Executive Vice President Robin Cook, who is also an ABWA member, said. “Our commitment to exceptional investment management and client service is ideal preparation.”

“Since the pina colada rose to popularity in the 70s, the freshest ingredients have been available at Bailey’s General Store,” Calli Johnson, with the management team, said. “Sponsoring some fun at their 40th Anniversary Gala is a great way to be part of ABWA’s new continuing education scholarship program, targeted to business women on the islands.”

“For over 50 years we’ve offered every color of the rainbow to our customers and are no strangers to the vibrant colors of the 70s,” owner John Grey said. “We’re having fun with flower power, but our real alignment with ABWA is over the continuing education scholarships and support of women’s professional development on the islands.”

The “Back to the 70’s” 40th Anniversary Gala will be held on May 3 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa on Sanibel. It will feature 70s music by The Renata Band, awards, a 70s foodie buffet showcasing favorites of the era, like sliders, chocolate fondue, and signature cocktails.

Attendees are encouraged to sport the hair, fashion and attitudes that made the 70s memorable.

The proceeds will support the ABWA’s new Continuing Education Scholarships Program.

In honor of the anniversary, tickets are $40 at ABWASanibelCaptiva.Eventbrite.com.
