Lee County has 44 tennis teams divided among six divisions for men over 70 years old. The winner of the bronze division was the team from the Beachview Tennis Club on Sanibel. The matches were played over a four-month period at various tennis clubs throughout the county. Unlike the over 50 league, where players are grouped according to skill level by red, white and blue divisions, the over 70 has age as the only requirement. Consequently, the skill levels are very mixed. Capt. Gil Royal was able to put players together to maximize their skills, which resulted in a comfortable winning margin for the Beachview men on their division championship.
