Featured breweries for annual Beer in the Bushes unveiled
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation has announced the 10 micro-breweries chosen for the 8th Annual Beer in the Bushes, its annual fundraising event set for April 20 from 6 to 10 p.m.
“One of the greatest things that has happened in Southwest Florida during the last eight years,” Jeff Siwicke, creator of Beer in the Bushes, said “is the rise of the local craft beer scene. Many amazing breweries have been opened and embraced by the community. Some of these breweries have been donating their time and beer to support SCCF for years, especially Sanibel’s own Point Ybel Brewing Company, who has had some hand in Beer in the Bushes since it was first imagined.”
“Naples Beach Brewing, Momentum Brewhouse, Fort Myers Brewing Co., Bury Me Brewing, Millennial Brewing, Palm City Brewing and South Cypress Brewing have been instrumental in making this event possible for years,” he added. “Joining us for the first time this year, we are happy to welcome Coastal Dayz and Big Blue Brewing to the family.”
“After all of the local breweries have been selected, we partner with John Nader and his Great White Grill to fill in any gaps that we may be missing,” Siwicke continued. “John looks at what everyone is bringing and, for example, if we don’t have any light beers in the lineup, he will provide that. We aim to have something for everyone to sample, including wine tastings provided by Bailey’s General Store.”
All-white attire is requested for a night celebrating positivity, community and music.
Sanibel’s Catering by Leslie Adams will coordinate the local food truck offerings to complement the beer tastings. All tickets include $10 in TruxBux, redeemable for dinner choices from any of the trucks.
Advance tickets are $70 and can be purchased at www.beerinthebushes.com.
If the event does not sell out, $80 same-day tickets may be available.
A smoke-free rain-or-shine event, it is open to ages 21 and older.
Attendees are encouraged to bike, carpool or taxi due to limited parking.
It will take place at SCCF’s Nature Center, at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel.
Event proceeds support SCCF’s mission of conserving coastal habitats and aquatic resources on Sanibel and Captiva and in the surrounding watershed.
