CIHS event a hit for crowd, participants
The audience arrived long before the doors opened on March 18 for the second annual game show, “What Do You Know II,” hosted by the Captiva Island Historical Society at the Captiva Civic Center.
Board President Tom Libonate opened the event with welcoming remarks and thanks to the Sanibel Captiva Trust Company for its support. Queenie Viglione was the Mistress of Ceremony, as six teams – drawn from local organizations – competed to answer questions about the island and its history.
Ken Sneeden emceed using his game show sound effects to punctuate Viglione’s questions, which she drew from the CIHS archives. Each corroborating document was pictured on the giant stage screen.
The teams all worked hard, but the winner was the CCA-cers, comprised of Lisa Riordan, Pat Boris and Paul Garvey, who teamed up with the Village People – Denise and John Biggs and Katie Gardenia.
The other participating teams included:
– SanCap Trustworthys, with Dick Pyle, Robin Cook and Jim Pigott
– The Bell Ringers, with Karen Bell, Sherill Sims and John Bates
– The Bookends, with David Saunders, Cathy Swerdlick and John Dale
– In God We Trust, with Jim and Joan Eschert and Zeke McDonald
The snacks and beverages were catered by the South Seas Island Resort.
