SCC youth attend ministry conference in Orlando
On Feb. 23, Sanibel Community Church’s H2O Youth Ministries sent nine youth leaders and six student leaders to Orlando to attend the Next Ministry Conference, sponsored by The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
With almost 200 people in attendance, NEXT was a one-day training event designed to equip and encourage adult volunteers who work with youth. It also provided content to help high school teen leaders discover their callings.
Throughout the conference, the leaders and teens enjoyed thought-provoking seminars led by ministry speakers, along with table discussions, breakout sessions, prayer, and fellowship. They were also given the opportunity to meet with leaders who were available to answer any questions on a variety of topics.
Sanibel Pastors Kevin Schafer and Dr. Lee Southard were both presenters at the event.
H2O Youth Ministries won the prize for traveling the farthest distance to attend the conference.
H2O Student Ministries is for sixth- through 12th-graders that meet on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. for middle-schoolers and from 6 to 8 p.m. for high-schoolers, as well as on Sundays at 11 a.m. at the church, at 1740 Periwinkle Way. Students on the island and surrounding communities are welcome.
