By Staff | Mar 19, 2019

The Sanibel School, at 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, presents the following:

Class offers thanks for garden help

Karen Thompson’s third-grade class recently received help from Cindi Vos, with R.S. Walsh Landscaping, in selecting the perfect plants for the raised garden beds at the school. The third-graders worked industriously planting the plants and flowers. The bright colors and varieties are magnificent and were selected to attract butterflies and other pollinators. The students are excited to share the responsibility of watering and caring for their new garden. The class thanked Vos, as well as Jake and Chris, for their personal attention and guidance with the garden beds.

New faculty member joins school

The school recently welcomed Stacey King, who joins the faculty team as the school counselor. A career changer, she began working in finance in New York City after graduating from college. King then worked as a trader at a hedge fund for 13 years prior to going to graduate school to become a school counselor. For the last 11 years, she worked in field of education in the Bronx, New York, where King held the positions of school counselor, college advisor, assistant principal and principal. Most recently, she worked at the district level in Manhattan, where King supported a portfolio of public schools to achieve strong student outcomes related to student academic performance, graduation and attendance rates. King relocated to Bonita Springs in February.
