The Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the 28th Annual Southwest Florida Mullet Toss Championship. This is a fun-filled family event and a fundraiser for various charities, organizations and individuals in the Greater Pine Island area.

This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, at the Matlacha Community Park, 4577 Pine Island Road, N.W., in Matlacha.

The event will open at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. Participant registration for the event will begin at 10 a.m; tossing will start at 11 a.m.

The Pine Island Kiwanis “Fish Drop” will be at 4 p.m. Be sure to get your fish drop tickets, which can be purchased at the Chamber Welcome Center, Century 21 in St James City, Winn-Dixie and at the event.

Back by popular demand will be the “Fish Dip” Contest. The contest is free to all professional participants. The public will determine the winner.
