Chorale earns excellent rating at competition
On Feb. 22, the Seahorse Chorale performed at the Music Performance Assessments, an adjudication festival. The students performed two song selections for a group of judges and were rated. They also performed two sight singing examples for a judge: one rhythmic and one melodic. At the end, the performance rating and sight singing ratings were combined for an overall rating. The participating groups are rated from highest to lowest as follows: superior, excellent, good, fair and poor. The Seahorse Chorale received an excellent rating for its performance and a superior rating on its sight singing, resulting in an overall rating of excellent.
Students perform at all-county honor concert
Students Anna Anderson-Kilgore, Emalee Peach and Samira Turnage participated in the 2019 All-County Elementary School Honor Choir Concert on March 7 at South Fort Myers High School. They were selected by The Sanibel School Music Director Joey Giangreco to sing in the choir, which features select fifth-graders from the School District of Lee County. The students worked hard for weeks to practice for the event. In addition to performing at the concert, they had the chance to work and learn about making music from guest clinician Anka Pink through an all-day choir workshop.
