Charter Rally fundraiser to feature golf tournament
The sixth annual Charter Rally will feature a special golf component for golf enthusiasts and families, at Cape Royal Golf Course next month.
The Charter School Authority Rally, Rally on the Green, will take place Saturday, March 9. There is an 18-hole traditional golf tournament with a 8 a.m. tee time for $100 a player. There is also a 9-hole single family-friendly paced tournament with a 10 a.m. tee time for $75 a player with a child under 15 years old playing for free.
The golfing fees include a cart, as well as a lunch inside the golf club.
Golf packages can be purchased at www.capecharterfoundation.com.
“This year we decided to change it up a little and add a golf component,” Board Member Jen-Hope Bellis said.
She said since there are a lot of middle and high school golfers, they thought it would be fun to also add the family friendly golf tee time.
“The goal is to keep that rally, four schools, one vision, one event, but add some different components to keep it fresh. My husband will play the golf outing and my kids and I will come later to have that time as a family,” Bellis said of the rally that takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 9.
She said Cape Royal Golf Club has been very supportive of the event.
“It has been a nice energy,” Bellis said. “We encourage anyone to come. A golf player who loves the charter school system, and those who want to support education. We would love for them to golf.”
There are a limited number of slots available for both tee times, which she said is already half full.
The fundraiser will feature much more than golf.
Rally on The Green attraction wristbands can also be purchased in advance at www.capecharterfoundation.com. It is $5 for unlimited fun before March 9, and $10 the day of the event.
The kids activities will include such things as slides, bounce houses, obstacle courses, laser tag, rock wall and human soccer ball.
Another popular attraction for the annual rally event is the on-line auction, which is now open and can be viewed at www.capecharterfoundation.com.
Some of the items include a week’s stay in a Georgia cabin, stays on Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel, as well as limo rides. Other fun items include being a principal for the day, naming the media center and bowling and ice cream with a teacher.
“The auction closes the day of the rally, March 9, at 4 p.m.,” Bellis said.
Last year the auction raised $15,000 for the foundation to benefit the municipal charter school system.
