Shell Love Bug issue is still unresolved
To the editor:
An article on Feb. 5, 2019, in a local publication gave the misleading impression that the issue of ownership of the Shell love Bug has been resolved in the favor of Lee County.
It may be true that a judge has ruled that the county owns the car, but a judge has also ruled that Pam Rambo has a legal copyright on her artwork that decorates the car. This means that no one can use or display the vehicle without her permission.
So, what good to the county is a car that it cannot use or display? Is it worth the $50,000-plus that the county has spent on attorney fees?
The county should give the Shell Love Bug to its creator and allow her to use it to be what she has always been: the best public relations person Sanibel and Captiva have ever had!
