Yoga for Bone Health offered for Healthy Heart Month

By Staff | Feb 5, 2019

During Healthy Heart Month, the Sanibel Recreation Center will provide its Yoga for Bone Health class for free on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.

When done with regularity, yoga provides a safe, supportive and low-impact practice that builds bone mass. The poses and stretches use the muscles against themselves, exerting many hundreds of pounds of pressure on the bones to which they are attached, but in a gradual, nontraumatic way.

In the class, explore 12 poses that are part of a yoga for bone health. Designed for first-timers and regular yoga practicers. Bring an empty stomach, bare feet and an open mind. Socks and a sweater are suggested to be warm during the final relaxation at the end of the class.

Class size is limited to fifteen participants; advanced registration is required.

Attend eight Healthy Heart Month Events and receive a free collapsible water bottle.

For more information, call 239-472-0345 or visit www.mysanibel.com.

Daily, weekly, semi-annual and annual memberships are available at the center.
