Demetre Jon Gatteny, 20, of, 5603 Deauville Court was charged with burglary of a conveyance and criminal mischief with property damage $1000 dollars or more.
The arrest came after Cape Coral Police responded to a break-in call at 802 El Dorado Parkway E shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. A caller had reported that a man was actively attempting to break the windshield of a van not belonging to him. The witness described the male who was smashing the windshield of the van to police.

“While approaching the van the officers could see extensive damage to the windshield and body of the van,” a Cape Coral Police Department statement released Tuesday states.
The man, identified as Gatteny, was told to exit the drivers seat and was immediately detained.
“A brick paver was lying within one foot of the van’s driver’s side door.,” the release states. “The brick paver appeared to have been removed from an island in the front yard of the home. The entire front windshield of the van was shattered and nearly caved in rendering it undrivable. Damage was observed on the roof and hood of the van and shattered glass from the windshield was inside of the van. A black wheelchair belonging to the victim that had been inside of the van was now in the front yard.”
Gatteny was arrested and later transferred to the Lee County Jail where he remained in custody Tuesday morning.
