Sanibel/Captiva Republican Caucus to meet
The Sanibel/Captiva Republican Caucus will meet on Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. in Fellowship Hall at the Sanibel Community Church, at 1740 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
Guest speaker Mayor Kevin Ruane will talk about his goals for the city and issues affecting it.
Ruane, who studied accounting and taxation at Pace University, was a senior executive in both large and small companies. After visiting Sanibel for many years, he became a full time resident in 2004. The following year, he started Castleton Capital, a company that finances small businesses in the country.
Ruane was elected to Sanibel City Council in 2007, and appointed mayor by his peers in 2010 – a position he has held for nine consecutive terms. In 2018, he was appointed to the Florida Municipal Investment Trust Board of Trustees and elected president of the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors. He has received several awards, including the 2017 Florida League of Cities Home Rule Hero award.
The meeting is open to the public; refreshments will be provided.
