Lee County operations adjust schedules for the holidays

Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday, as well as on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday.

The holiday schedule adjustments:

Solid Waste

Solid Waste offices and the Topaz Court Solid Waste Annex will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. The Resource Recovery Facility in Buckingham will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, but open regular hours on Monday, Dec. 24.

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the City of Bonita Springs, the Village of Estero and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day beginning Dec. 26. This means that if the regular collection day is Tuesday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Wednesday. Wednesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Thursday and so on, the rest of the week through Saturday, Dec. 29. Also, on Tuesday, Jan. 1, there will not be any regular collection; if the regular collection day is Tuesday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Wednesday. Wednesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Thursday and so on, the rest of the week through Saturday, Jan. 5. Regular collection schedules resumes on Monday, Jan. 7.

Christmas trees that have had the stand and all lights and decorations removed, including tinsel, can be set out with regular yard waste and will be ground into mulch. All wrapping paper, except metallic, is recyclable along with cardboard boxes. Plastic ribbons and bows are not recyclable.

Lee County Utilities

Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, the Customer Service Center will be closed.

Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, the Customer Service Center will be closed.

LeeTran

LeeTran services will end at about 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, and resume on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Visit rideleetran.com for specific route information.

There will be limited trolley services for downtown Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach on New Year’s Eve. Service to downtown Fort Myers ends at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1. Service to Fort Myers Beach ends at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1.

There will be no daily service for LeeTran routes on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Service will resume Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Parks & Recreation

Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open. The Administration office and Six Mile Cypress Slough Interpretive Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, resuming normal operating hours Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Pools are closed Sunday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 26, resuming normal operating hours Thursday, Dec. 27.

Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open. The Administration office and Six Mile Cypress Slough Interpretive Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, resuming normal operating hours Wednesday, Jan. 2.

The county’s four recreation centers – North Fort Myers, Wa-Ke Hatchee, Veterans and Estero – will be closed through the holidays due to scheduled annual maintenance. Veterans will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 6. North Fort Myers, Wa-Ke Hatchee and Estero will be closed from Sunday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 6. Library System

Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, all branches and library administration will be closed.

Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, all branches and library administration will be closed.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services

Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, the Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center, will be closed. Normal hours resume Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers.

Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, the Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center will be closed. Normal hours resume Wednesday, Jan. 2.
