3-D Printing

Evenings at the Homestead

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation will host “Evenings at the Homestead: Toxic Puzzle Film” from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Cyanobacteria, commonly known as blue-green algae plagued the Caloosahatchee over the summer. In the documentary “Toxic Puzzle,” scientists travel the world to understand its impacts. Screening of the film will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Natural Resource Policy Director Rae Ann Wessel and Dr. Larry Brand, of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science. Art Under the Stars

Hirdie Girdie Gallery, Suncatcher’s Dream and Tower Gallery on Sanibel will host “Art Under the Stars,” their fifth annual show and sale, from 5 to 9 p.m. at each venue. Within walking distance of one another, there will be new work on display, some artist meet-and-greets, prizes, discounts and more. Shop ‘Ding’

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge will hold its Shop “Ding” holiday event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nature Store in the Visitor & Education Center, at 1 Wildlife Drive, Sanibel. Hosted by the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge, the store will offer exclusive items available only that day, along with its stock of holiday stocking stuffers and other gift items. Charles LeBuff and Betty Anholt will debut their new book and present lectures at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with book signings to follow. Their “Protecting Sanibel and Captiva Islands: The Conservation Story” book will be available for purchase, with a special one-day promotion of $35 for two books. Documentary Screening

Ocean Tribe Paddlers will screen the documentary “The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida” at 6 p.m. at the Sanibel Sea School’s flagship campus, at 455 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Following in the footsteps of a wandering Florida black bear, three friends leave civilization and enter a lost American wilderness on a rugged thousand-mile journey by foot, paddle and bike.
