Junonia found on Cayo Costa
Arlene Markarian, of New York, found her first junonia shell on Nov. 12 on the Gulfside of Cayo Costa. According to Harold E. Gerry Jr., his wife found it in the surf line in about one-foot of water. Upon finding the shell, Markarian did the “happy dance and yelled out an expletive that our nine-year-old son won’t let her live down,” he noted. The couple have been coming to the islands for 17 years and she has always been searching for the elusive find.
