Call to artists for BIG ARTS shows
BIG ARTS recently put out a call to artists for two upcoming shows.
From Nov. 28 to Dec. 30, “Altered Realities” will be showcased in the Phillips Gallery and “Handmade: The Art of Ceramics” will be on exhibit in the Founders Gallery.
The submission deadline for both is Nov. 9.
An altered reality is a work of art that derives from a particular object or scene but evolves through the artist’s creativity into a fresh and distinct interpretation of that source. “Altered Realities” is seeking works that represent abnormal or manipulated realities for a juried show. Reveal your unique reality by diving into the world of abstraction and manipulation.
Versatile, sensuous, malleable and as basic as mud and old as art itself, ceramics has been a medium of fine art for centuries. “Handmade: The Art of Ceramics” is a juried show that will feature not only functionally beautiful ceramics, but pieces that are uniquely created. It will explore the possibilities of the medium beyond functionality.
Submitting artists will be notified via email by Nov. 13.
An artists reception and awards dinner will be held on Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
