Trunk or Treat event at Masonic Lodge
Join the Cape Coral Masonic Lodge for a fun, safe, family-friendly pre-Halloween event, complete with free candy and a petting zoo.
Trunk or Treat will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the lodge at 244 Santa Barbara Blvd.
Cape Coral Masonic Lodge No. 367 member Bob Zimmerman said part of what the organization does is give back to the community, one of the reasons the annual Trunk or Treat event began five years ago.
“Trunk or Treat is a place where children can go. Parents can bring their children and be as sure as you can in today’s society that it is safe,” Zimmerman said. “The people that are handing out the candy are lodge members. Every lodge member, in order to get in, has a background check. It is very safe.”
The event, which has free admission, will feature free candy, a car show with prizes, costume contest, games and a petting zoo.
A DJ, as well as a dunk tank will also be featured.
“Cape Coral fire, Cape Coral police and SWAT will all be there. They have supported us in the past. It is the type of thing that they would like to see,” he said.
The lodge members will also be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers for sale.
Last year, 2,400 people went through the event in the four-hour time frame. There were 40 vehicles on exhibit.
“It is the largest activity in the Cape area that the Mason’s have. It is big and it is busy,” Zimmerman said.
The event, last year, also featured a visit from Spider Man.
“We try to do some fun things for the kids,” he said.
