SCIAR hosts donation drive for ACT
The Sanibel and Captiva Islands Association of Realtors held a donation drive in September to collect needed items for the Abuse Counseling & Treatment shelter in Fort Myers. On Oct. 4, SCIAR hosted Meg Dalabes, community and education development coordinator for ACT. She spoke about the organization’s various services for abuse victims and the community: an emergency protective shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, one-on-one counseling, advocacy, support groups, a children’s program, and information and referrals in other matters. Dalabes also accepted the donated pillows, sheet and towel sets, toiletries and children’s items. ACT is always in need of: pillows and pillow cases, bath/hand towels and wash cloths, twin flat and fitted sheets, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and tooth brushes, disposable diapers, children’s snacks and juices, and gift cards in $10 increments.
